Jose Mourinho accused of racism in Türkiye: "They jump like monkeys"

Galatasaray have accused Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho of making " racist comments " following Monday's league draw between the Istanbul rivals.

Speaking after the derby, the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea manager said the players on the home bench were " jumping around like monkeys ".

The Portuguese also reiterated his usual criticism of the Turkish referees after this match officiated by Slovenian Slavko Vincic, apparently after a request from both teams for a foreigner to referee the derby.

In a statement, Galatasaray , the current leader and two-time Turkish champion, said it would launch criminal proceedings against Mourinho .

Since the beginning of his coaching duties in Türkiye, Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has persistently made derogatory remarks towards the Turkish people," he said.

Today his speech has escalated beyond merely immoral comments to unequivocally inhuman rhetoric," he added.

"We therefore formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings regarding the racist comments made by José Mourinho and will accordingly submit official complaints to UEFA and FIFA," he insisted.

There was no immediate comment from Fenerbahce , second in the Super League six points behind Galatasaray, or the Portuguese coach.
